Turkey is one of the largest construction countries in the world: the construction industry accounts for 5.5% of its total economy. In 2019, the domestic building materials market size in Turkey was 76.8 billion US dollars, and the total import value of building materials was 6.79 billion US dollars. Among them, imports from China were 1.217 billion US dollars, ranking first on the import list.

Transportation infrastructure is a key area of focus in Turkey: It is expected that by 2023, the total investment in transportation projects in Turkey will reach 368 billion US dollars. In the medium and long term until 2024, the output value of the transportation infrastructure industry in Turkey will maintain an average annual growth rate of 5.5%. In addition, the construction of Istanbul's third airport has already begun, which is one of the largest airports in the world to date. The Istanbul Canal is also expected to be completed in 2023, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey. The advancement of these infrastructure constructions will directly stimulate the demand in the building materials market.

Urban reconstruction project About 55% of the existing over 17 million housing units in Turkey need renovation, indicating a huge potential in the construction market. The issuance of the "New Turkey Contract 2023" is expected to add approximately 7.6 million apartments in Turkey from 2012 to 2023. Meanwhile, with the launch of Turkey's "Urban Regeneration Plan", The low-rent housing and low-cost housing construction projects launched by the Turkish Housing and Construction Authority (TOKI) have brought about a huge demand for building materials. It is predicted that the total value in the next ten years will reach 500 billion US dollars. The sharp increase in residential properties will be a huge market for building materials.

Turkey is located in an earthquake-prone zone. The necessary urban transformation and old house renovation have triggered Turkey's "Second Phase Urban Transformation Plan". Data from KONUTDER (an organization of housing developers and investors) shows that in Istanbul alone, 300,000 old houses were upgraded and renovated in 2020. Other regions, such as Bursa and Riz, are also implementing urban renovation projects.

The government's development plan: In Turkey's development plan for 2019-20235, the construction industry holds an important position. In terms of infrastructure, efforts are being made to actively develop facilities such as roads, airports and ports. The government plans to increase the total length of expressways from 23,500 kilometers in 2018 to 37,000 kilometers by 2023, and will build 5,748 kilometers of expressways and 9,000 Bridges (totaling 600 kilometers).

Developing the surrounding trade market: Turkey is located at the junction of Europe, Asia and Africa, serving a population of 1.4 billion in the surrounding areas. Turkey maintains close economic and trade relations with nei***oring countries. While actively applying to join the European Union, Turkey has never ceased to strengthen its trade relations with its eastern nei***ors. Taking advantage of Turkey's geographical location, actively explore the markets of nei***oring countries and the European Union, and increase more trade opportunities for re-export or export to the Middle East, North Africa, Eastern Europe and Southern Europe.

Geographical location and advantages: Turkey meets the east and west and spans across Europe and Asia, enjoying a unique geographical location. It shares borders with eight countries, namely Syria, Iraq, Greece, Bulgaria, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran. It covers an area of 780,576 square kilometers and its radiation range extends to two major markets in Europe and Asia, with a total population of 1.4 billion. The population is 72 million, among which 23% of the people live in the three major cities of Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara.
